'Approaching God', by my friend Lisa Borden

What a beautiful book. I wouldn’t and couldn’t describe many books I’ve read as ‘beautiful’, but this one warrants the word. The colours and Lisa’s own photos in the book are beautiful... and the message is too. That God is approachable.

CS Lewis once talked (in ‘The Problem of Pain’, I think?) about the ‘secret signature of the soul’, the unique way that each and every human being sees and experiences God. It’s like two people sitting side by side, watching a golden sun setting, dipping beyond the horizon... both seeing the same thing, and yet somehow both seeing something unique and inexplicable.

‘Approaching God’ is Lisa’s attempt to describe the secret signature of her soul. It is about how she sees and experiences God - as Friend, as Healer, as Guide, as Mother, as Father, as Artist - and that’s what makes this little book so compelling. It is an invitation into her soul, into her walk with God.
