A couple of weeks ago, we packed more than 40 boxes of the Newman's stuff onto a lorry and waved it goodbye as it began it's long road-journey to the South of Spain. You'd have thought that this taxi would be *more* than enough to carry Helen, Ian, their children, and their last few bags to the airport... wouldn't you?
Shortly after 10am, the taxi set off for Gatwick Airport. Around 3pm, the plane lifted off for Malaga, Spain. And just after 11pm, Helen and Ian, Esme, lewis and Charlie finally stepped into their new home-for-the-year, in Almunecar. Apparently, the kids enjoyed 'exploring' all the rooms and verandas for a short while before crashing out after their marathon day of travelling.
It was good for Emma and I to speak with Helen and Ian on speaker-phone an hour or so later, to reflect on an eventful, emotional, possibly life-changing day. I don't know about the others, but talking helped reassure me that in spite of the thousand-or-so miles, we'll continue to walk together over this coming year.
