Today was Poppy's first day in secondary school (aka 'big' school), and it was Angel's first ever day in school, after a few years of home education. A HUGE day for both of them... and for us.
On Sunday, Poppy asked everyone to pray for her, that she wouldn't be scared, and that the work wouldn't be hard. It's seems like God heard her hopes and prayers...
When we met her at the gate at 3pm, her first words were, "It's not hard work... it's easy!" And this was quickly followed by, "Did my mobile phone come in the post?"
As a bonus/reward for moving up into secondary school, we promised to get her a mobile phone. After weeks and weeks of trawling through phone-shop magazines, she finally settled on the nokia 5230, an upgrade of the one that Megan's got. And yes, it did arrive today...
Apologies to those of you who were bombarded with texts this evening... she was, erm, 'trying it out'. And many thanks to those of you who sent her text-replies - you should've seen the excitement on her face! Ha ha
After meeting Poppy at the gate, we walked around the corner to Angel's school... her school-day finished twenty minutes later, which was convenient. Angel had a great day too - she told us about her new teacher, about playing 'it' at break-time, about the PE kit she needed, and about the "naughty boys".
"One boy was naughty because he brought cake... and you're not allowed to bring cake or chocolate," she announced.
"How do you know that you're not allowed?" asked Emma.
Angel looked amazed that Emma had even asked the question. "Because every time the teacher came, he hid it under his desk!"
And so the school adventure begins. A new day for the Toggie family in so many ways... and it's taking a bit of getting used to.
