Steve Meehan took me to see his team, Ayr Rugby FC, play the top team, Currie, this afternoon. Ayr won 21-7, which was good. I'm not convinced by the pink rugby shirts though?
I'm in Scotland for a few days, visiting with some of 24-7 prayer's friends and family up here. Most people know that I love this kind of stuff, I think it's me at my best... eating and drinking, dreaming and scheming, asking questions and imagining possibilities, exploring ideas and strategies, growing communities. It's such a privilege to weave in with people's lives. :)
Steve wife, Debbie, set up a prayer room in their house a few months ago... and they've never been the same since (they even had a woman healed of cancer during the prayer week?!). Debbie has been enthusiatically championing 24-7 in Scotland ever since, and I'm staying with them for the first few days. :)
Yesterday, Debbie and I met with Paul Davie (Alpha Scotland) and Lynne Howson (Firestarters) to explore how 24-7 prayer fits into the mix of all that's going on. We felt that there were four areas to work on;
- challenging church/Christian leaders to pray together, and to develop their own prayer lives
- hosting larger prayer gatherings, collaborative 24-7 prayer weeks, etc. such as the Alpha Vision Day
- encouraging and supporting local churches to host prayer weeks, either on their own or together in an area... maybe looking towards a non-stop season/year of prayer in Scotland
- inspiring some wild, prayer-fuelled/ful, missional pioneering across Scotland... especially amongst young people
Fun fun fun...

By the way, does abyone know the meaning of the phrases, 'jings', 'crivens' and 'help ma boab'? We can't find anything that explains the origin of these weird phrases.
Er... no idea about the words. Looking forward to hearing all about your trip though :)
