Megan the Tweenager
12 years ago, Megan was born... she was our first child, and she changed everything! :o) I still remember carrying her into our house for the first time. I placed her car-seat in the middle of the lounge floor and then looked at Emma's Dad questioningly. "What do we do now?" I asked.
I have so many fantastic memories of Megan's life-so-far... funny things she's said (I write them all down. Ha ha!)... our trip to Kansas together when she was eight... holidays and adventures we've shared as a family... questions she's asked (those who know Megan will know she has an inquiring mind!) and discoveries she's made ("Daddy, God's not a 'he'... God's not male or female", aged about 6)... how amazingly caring and supportive she's been towards Poppy as she, and we, have come to terms with Poppy's deafness... her wonderful (and prolific!) creativity, her dancing, her singing, her making things... her faith in Jesus, through ups and downs, good times and difficult times as well... I could go on. :o) And I'm sure there are many more adventures to come, for all of us.
Right now, we're starting to prepare ourselves for the launch into her teenage years. According to Wiktionary a 'tweenager' is "a young human being that is not yet technically a teenager (being less than thirteen years old), but starting to act like one... generally eight - to twelve-years old." I think that's a fairly accurate description of where we're at right now. Shopping for clothes... emailing friends... texting... make-up and hair-styling... the occasionally moody-moment (!)... Yep, we're on our way. ;o)
I found this on her bedroom notice-board today;
As I recall.... I then replied "run for your life!"
