A few weeks ago, I helped my friends from re:generation church host the third prayer space in Frances Bardsley School for Girls in twelve months. I confess I'd been worrying that familiarity with the creative prayer space 'format' would mean that the students were less interested and less engaged... I needn't have worried.
Megan and I enjoyed our day in Colchester helping Katy, Richard and baby-Moses move into their amazing new home... the next chapter of the Colchester Boiler Room community story is just beginning! :)
"Daddy!" exclaimed Poppy, as we got onto the train together yesterday morning, "take your hood off!" "Why?" I asked, puzzled. "Because the Police will get you!" she replied anxiously. ?!
Saturday 19th December, 11am in the morning until late night, food and drinks throughout the day... entertainment towards the evening... crafts space for last-minute Christmas presents. Everyone welcome! :)
Two years ago, us Toggies and the Newman family moved into this house in Romford together. The whole buying process was a bit of a struggle/miracle, and it would take forever to tell the story! Ha ha. But two years ago, we began a new adventure in community life together... and we're still just beginning. :)
Steve Meehan took me to see his team, Ayr Rugby FC, play the top team, Currie, this afternoon. Ayr won 21-7, which was good. I'm not convinced by the pink rugby shirts though?
"Even though I was there on my own, it felt like others were in the room with me. I wasn't alone. It just felt like this was my turn to speak up and pray." Richard
It's an endless debate... one I blogged some thoughts about a long time ago (and now can't find anymore). And I think it has many parrallels for the Christian 'journey'. ;)
Incidentally, I saw this advert in a London Underground station - I think it was Highbury & Islington? I can't remember what it was advertising though.
Here's some more messy mutterings, recorded this morning (not long after I'd woken up), this time answering the question; What's happening in these prayer spaces in schools? If you're interested in finding out more, read on...
Here's an off-the-top-of-head attempt at answering the question; Why set up prayer spaces in schools? Unedited and scruffy... that's me, not the video.
A few weeks ago, a bunch of youth workers from Denmark popped into London for a visit, and I got cornered into this little interview (that's not me, but the way... I pop up later). Ha ha!
Apologies for the lack of blog-posting lately... I've been crazy-busy with a bunch of things, including this - 24-7prayer's new UK website! We love the new design, which Ross and Ben from String Monkey Media worked incredibly hard on - we really do recommend them if you're thinking about developing a new website. :)
Emma Nicholson and I had a coffee catch-up in London last week. I've hardly seen her since her Wild Goose intern year ended back in June. :( However, she wrote a quote for our new 24-7 UK website (shhh! It's not live yet) and it seems that I didn't do a terrible job as her 'coach' after all. ;)
Poppy and Megan started back at school yesterday, Angel began a new term of home education, and Esme started back at playschool. So... we had a party to celebrate! :)
At long last, I've finished writing our resource pack, which we hope will encourage and equip hundreds and hundreds of prayer spaces in schools over the next few years.
24-7 is no longer office-less. Yesterday, we moved into our new (hopefully less temporary) home in the offices behind the Oasis Trust church.co.uk building, five minutes from Waterloo station. And it has windows!
This is the Northern face of Sharp Edge, the route I took up Blencathra yesterday... and it was probably the toughest climb I've ever had in the Lake District.
